The first Safe-Hub was built in 2008 in Khayelitsha, South Africa, in partnership with the CTC 10 Foundation. At that time, Khayelitsha had some of the highest murder and rape statistics in the world. Over time, we have seen a reduction in violence in the area surrounding the Safe-Hub. This initial project provided a valuable learning ground for AMANDLA, resulting in the development and refinement of the Safe-Hub model.
